Safety Guidelines
Our Commitment to Your Safety
At BharatRyd, safety isn't just a feature—it's the foundation of everything we do. We believe that carpooling and ride-sharing should be convenient, affordable, and above all, safe for every member of our community. Whether you're sharing your daily commute, splitting travel costs, or contributing to a greener planet, you deserve to feel secure throughout your journey.
These safety guidelines are designed to help you make informed decisions, protect yourself and others, and build a community based on trust and respect. When every rider and driver follows these principles, we create a carpooling experience that works for everyone.
User Verification & Account Safety
Mobile Number Verification
Every BharatRyd account begins with OTP-based mobile number verification. This simple step ensures that real people are using our platform and helps us maintain accountability across our community. Your verified mobile number is your digital identity on BharatRyd, so please keep it active and accessible.
Use Your Real Identity
We encourage all users to provide accurate personal information during registration. Using your real name and genuine profile details builds trust with fellow carpoolers. When riders and drivers know who they're travelling with, everyone feels more comfortable and secure.
Protect Your Login Credentials
Your account password and login details are yours alone. Never share them with anyone, including people claiming to represent BharatRyd. We will never ask for your password through calls, messages, or emails. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, change your password immediately and contact our support team.
Ride Safety for Riders
Review Before You Book
Before confirming any ride, take a moment to check the driver's profile, vehicle details, and ratings. Look at reviews from other riders to get a sense of their experience. A few seconds of review can help you make better travel decisions.
Share Your Trip Details
Let a family member or friend know about your travel plans. Share the driver's name, vehicle number, and expected arrival time. BharatRyd allows you to easily forward ride details to your trusted contacts. This simple habit adds an extra layer of personal safety.
Practice Basic Travel Safety
Always wear your seat belt, regardless of where you're seated in the vehicle. Sit in the back seat when possible, especially if you're travelling alone. Keep your belongings secure and within reach. These small actions make a significant difference to your safety.
Keep Personal Information Private
While friendly conversation makes journeys pleasant, avoid sharing sensitive personal information like your home address, workplace details, financial information, or daily routines with co-passengers you've just met. Maintain healthy boundaries even in friendly interactions.
Safety Responsibilities for Drivers
Valid Documentation
As a driver on BharatRyd, you must possess a valid driving license appropriate for your vehicle type. Keep your vehicle registration, insurance, and pollution certificates current and accessible. You may be asked to verify these documents periodically to maintain your driver status on the platform.
Follow Traffic Laws
Respect all traffic rules, speed limits, and road safety regulations. Safe driving isn't negotiable—it's your primary responsibility. Remember, you're not just transporting yourself; you're responsible for every passenger in your vehicle.
Maintain Your Vehicle
Keep your vehicle clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy. Regular servicing, working brakes, functioning lights, and good tire condition aren't luxuries—they're necessities. A well-maintained vehicle ensures everyone's safety and makes the ride more comfortable.
Stay Alert and Responsible
Never drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs your judgment or reflexes. Don't drive when you're excessively tired or unwell. If you're not in a condition to drive safely, cancel the ride. No cost-sharing is worth compromising safety.
In-Ride Safety Guidelines
Respectful Behavior Always
Every person using BharatRyd deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Maintain courteous behavior, use polite language, and be considerate of personal space. A respectful atmosphere makes the journey pleasant for everyone.
Zero Tolerance Policy
BharatRyd has zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct of any kind. This includes behavior based on gender, religion, caste, region, language, age, or any other personal characteristic. Inappropriate comments, unwanted advances, or discriminatory remarks will result in immediate account suspension.
No Verbal or Physical Abuse
Aggressive behavior, threats, verbal abuse, or physical violence are strictly prohibited. If any disagreement arises during the ride, handle it calmly and maturely. Remember, everyone is sharing the journey to make commuting easier and more affordable—not to create conflicts.
Payments & Cost-Sharing Safety
Understanding Cost-Sharing
BharatRyd facilitates cost-sharing among riders, not commercial taxi services. Drivers can only request contributions toward fuel, tolls, and vehicle maintenance—not profit-making fares. This distinction keeps our platform legal, affordable, and community-focused.
Keep Transactions Transparent
Agree on cost-sharing amounts before starting the journey. Any payment should reflect the agreed contribution. If you're sharing costs in cash, handle the transaction respectfully and provide the agreed amount. For digital payments, use the platform's recommended methods whenever possible.
Report Suspicious Requests
If a driver demands excessive payments, requests money for reasons unrelated to the ride, or behaves inappropriately regarding payments, report the incident immediately. Similarly, drivers should report riders who refuse to pay the agreed cost-share without valid reasons.
Emergency Situations
Trust Your Instincts
If something doesn't feel right during your ride, trust your instincts. Your comfort and safety come first. It's perfectly acceptable to ask the driver to stop in a safe, public location if you feel uncomfortable continuing the journey.
Immediate Actions
In case of any emergency, threatening behavior, or accident, prioritize your immediate safety. If you're in danger, call local emergency services (Police: 100, Ambulance: 108) without hesitation. Move to a safe location if possible.
Platform Support
After ensuring your immediate safety, report the incident through the BharatRyd app. Provide as much detail as possible, including the ride details, nature of the incident, and any evidence you may have. Our team takes every safety report seriously and will respond promptly.
Medical Emergencies
If someone experiences a medical emergency during the ride, stop the vehicle safely and call for medical assistance immediately. Inform other passengers and help coordinate the emergency response. Everyone's cooperation during medical emergencies can save lives.
Reporting & Blocking Users
How to Report
If you experience or witness unsafe behavior, inappropriate conduct, or any violation of these safety guidelines, please report it through the app immediately. Navigate to the ride details, select the user involved, and choose the report option. You can also contact our support team directly through the help section.
What Happens Next
Every report is reviewed by our safety team. We take appropriate action based on the severity and nature of the incident. This may include warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform. We maintain confidentiality throughout the process and keep reporters informed of actions taken.
Account Suspension Rights
BharatRyd reserves the right to suspend or permanently block any user account that violates safety guidelines, engages in fraudulent activities, or behaves in ways that compromise the community's safety and trust. We may also involve law enforcement authorities when necessary.
Blocking Features
You can block any user directly from their profile if you prefer not to ride with them in the future. Blocked users won't be able to see your future rides or contact you through the platform. Use this feature freely to maintain your comfort level.
Community Trust & Responsibility
Building Together
BharatRyd is more than a platform—it's a community of people helping each other commute better. Every safe ride, every respectful interaction, and every positive review contributes to building trust within our community. Your behavior shapes the experience for everyone who uses BharatRyd.
Shared Responsibility
Safety isn't just BharatRyd's responsibility—it's everyone's responsibility. Riders and drivers must work together to create a secure carpooling environment. Report concerning behavior, support fellow community members, and follow these guidelines consistently.
Rate and Review Honestly
Your ratings and reviews help other users make informed decisions. Share honest feedback about your ride experience. If someone provided excellent service and made you feel safe, acknowledge it. If you faced issues, mention them constructively. Your input helps us maintain quality and safety standards.
Lead by Example
e the carpool companion you'd want to ride with. Show up on time, communicate clearly, respect agreed terms, and treat everyone with basic courtesy. When you set a positive example, others are encouraged to do the same.
Our Safety Commitment
At BharatRyd, we're continuously working to make carpooling safer and more reliable across India. We invest in technology, verification systems, and support infrastructure to protect our community. But technology alone cannot create a safe environment—it requires the active participation and commitment of every user.
We promise to listen to your feedback, respond to safety concerns promptly, and keep improving our platform based on your experiences. We'll maintain transparency about how we handle safety issues and remain committed to creating a carpooling culture where everyone feels valued and protected.
Your trust in BharatRyd motivates us to do better every day. Whether you're a daily commuter, an occasional traveler, or someone taking their first carpool ride, we want you to feel confident that you've chosen a platform that genuinely cares about your safety.
Safe travels, and thank you for being part of the BharatRyd community.
